LinkStation Pro Duo web access restrictions not working

My LinkStation Pro Duo web access is showing the world my most restricted folder.   The permissions on web access to this unit flat do not work.  Before you start asking me newbie questions, here are all the answers:

 

Yes, the firmware is upgraded to the most recent version (3.10).

Yes, I have initialized the unit.

Yes, Access Restrictions are enabled in the share setup.

Yes, Web Access Settings is set to 'Use Inherited Folder Permissions' for the share in Web Access setup.

Yes, there is no user is logged in to the web access.

Yes, the restrictions work for folder sharing in the local area network.

 

I have RTFM several times and hacked on the settings for hours removing them and putting them back to make sure they "took".  After a couple hours on the phone with Buffalo tech support jumping through useless hoops, all they could come up with was to RMA the unit.

 

Is there a better way to fix this?  It's clearly going to happen again, even with a new unit.  If that's the only solution, it's time to 86 it.

How did you come to the conclusion that anyone had access to the device?  Did you try it from outside you local network and get in without any credentials?  For the most part you have done everything right, you have come to the end of the diagnostic trouble tree.  The only thing i could think of is to try allow all groups and users" and see if that puts any restriction into getting into the folder, if that doesn't work or you don't want to use that setting, then rma is the only option to see if we can resolve the problem.   It is possible that if you are using save login info on your laptop and thats why it seems like it goes right through.  If you want, pm me the buffalonas.com name and i'll make sure i can get in.
