I have inserted the buffalo disc to upload the program but it just opens up a big text box when i click on any of the exe files. It just doesnt want to install. It connects ok over USB but i want the LAN funtionality. Can someone tell me how to install the flexnet on a mac please?

Do you know how to find the IP address through the NAT table of your router?

Hi Robbie,

Are you sure you want LAN functionality on your Mac as the Flexnet is not a very good candidate for this being a FAT 32 format drive.  However, in order to connect the drive to your Macbook through LAN, you need to first locate its IP address from the NAT table of your router.  If you use Connect to Server under GO and browse, it won't show the IP address of the drive itself.  Under NAT table, you should see the name of the drive like HD-CELU2.  Make note of that.  To confirm it is that IP address, load up either Safari or Firefox and type in the IP address like http://192.168.xxx.xxx." target="_blank">http://192.168.xxx.xxx.  You should be able to see the WEB Gui for the flexnet.  Adjust whatever you need to adjust and apply the settings.  Then, back to the finder press Command key + K and this should invoke the Connect to Server dialog box.  On the server address dialog box, enter smb://IP address of Flexnet drive/share

So, if your Flexnet IP address determined from local NAT table of your router is to be 192.168.0.5 for instance, you would type in smb://192.168.0.5/share and then click connect.  This maps the flexnet drive to your Mac.

To improve the experience with your Flexnet and the Mac, make sure the files are not bigger than 4Gb (A Fat 32 limitation) and not do not have long wierd characters (A Fat 32 limitation too!!), which means that if you plan to do Photoshop and video work with it over LAN, you would do better with USB because it will occassionally stop copying or saving files.  You can help improve the experience by ensuring that the Flexnet drive is on a gigabit switch with port forwarding through NAT lookup table and NOT shared which can reduce the episode of the drive stopping to copy files.

We use the Flexnet on both the Mac and PC.

Thanks for that reply. I will have a go. I had to have a FAT32 format as my PS3 reads the data over USB. So i am kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place lol.

Will have a go now

Cheers!
