If i set user restrictions to a user i have created, so only they can access from the web, i have to sign in each time i want to browse the share folder from the LAN my Linkstation is set up on. Can you set up so you have to log in for web access but not if just browsing through explorer in windows? Do i have to set the username and password to the same as my windows log on?

You can give that a try.  It shouldn't ask you EVERY time you connect.  Do you have the folder mapped?
