TeraStation forbids "strong" passwords, our network REQUIRES "strong" passwords.

Our Active Directory domain requires "strong" passwords.  All of our administrative passwords are designed to be very strong, with "punctuation" characters like "#", or ";", etc.  Some of them even have "alt" characters in them that must be entered by holding down the "alt" key and typing in the decimal value of the character.

 

When I try to get the TeraStation (model and firmware revision above) to join our AD network, I get the following error: 

 

The Administrator Password contains at least one invalid character.
The Administrator Password may include 256 alphanumerical characters, a hyphen `-`, and an underscore `_`.

All of our adminstrative passwords contain characters that fall outside of that set of rules, as described above.

I can get the TeraStation to not throw that error by putting in a password that conforms to the TeraStations restrictive password rules, but, of course, that password is wrong and then the error is that it was denied by the network.

Can I get the TeraStation to accept "strong" passwords that accept characters other than numbers, letters "-" and "_"?

Thanks, I have made the suggestion for future firmware.

 

What I'm going to try is to create an administrative user on our Active Directory network who's password consists only of alphas, numerals "-", and "_" that our "strong password" enforcement on the network will actually accept, (I hope it's possible) and then use that administrative user's username and password to get the TeraStation to join the AD domain.

 

I hope (fingers crossed) it won't be a problem setting user permissions for various folders on the TeraStation, once it's a member of the domain, since many users on our network have passwords with characters like "#", "$", etc.
