Hi.  I bought two Buffalo Drivestation Model: HD-HC500U2 back in 2007 and they're still running great.

Here's an image

They both came with Samsung HD501LJ 500GB 7.2K SATA 3.5" HDD.  I ran reliability test and both hard drives are in excellent condition.  I back up important documents and images on both.  I've also added other external usb 3.1 drives ranging from 4TB to 8TB.

Here's my question.  Can I upgrade the internal hard drive with either a WD Red Plus 2TB or 4TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s, CMR, 64MB Cache, 3.5 Inch?  Will the internal card recognize a 2 or 4 TB drive?  These Drivestations came out during Windows XP so it should in theory recognize a 2 and 4 TB drive.

Since these are great and reliable products back then, I'd still like to keep using them.  Thank you in advance.
