Linkstation Quad stalls during filecopy or reading

I recently purchased a Linkstation Quad and it is currently configured as follows : Firmware 1.11. Four 1 TB HDD installed with 2 RAID 1 arrays. Using Gigabit ethernet to my PC with jumbo frame enabled and CAT6 RJ45 cables. Only bittorent is activated and all the other services have been disabled.

My intention was to use it to store media files (mainly video) and to stream it across my network. I have been trying to copy and play files via the NAS but am experiencing stalls during file copying and playback as well. The file copying varies from a few hundred MB to about 20GB. The video file tht i stream  ranges from 1GB to 4GB. The file copying will also abort by itself after a while.

I have observed the NAS and this is what happens. Every 30 seconds to a minute, the NAS will stall. ALL the green disk lighs will stop blinking for a few seconds, suddenly go dark and then the lights will go back on one-by-one. During this time, I am unable to access the NAS. I find this extremely frustrating and the file write/read speed unbearable. Sometimes, the file write slows to 500KBps which is ridiculous for a gigabit connection.
