Startup cannot be completed (Buffalo NAS Linkstation EZ LS-CL)

   I have a Buffalo NAS Linkstation EZ LS-CL which worked well until i disconnected for a few hours when I gave away the computer which I used to set it up. After that day I have not been able to use any of the other computers to set up the NAS again. Every time I try I get one of the following errors: 1.. Setup cannot be completed OR 2.. Device cannot be detected. Sometimes I get one messsage, sometimes I get the other. My computers are all running windows vista and I have tried many things, including: 1.. Deactivate firewall and AV 2.. Ensured that the connection and connectors are ok 3.. Ensured that all the lights are on. 4.. I have read forums. To date nothing that I have tried has worked.
