Hi, I've spent the entire day trying to copy some files to my linkstation live, I have tried several different methods and had several different errors, but none of the existing solved queries quite seem to apply, or the solutions didn't work.

Linkstation Live LSCH1.0TL

firmware 1.10

Acer Aspire 4920 laptop, running windows vista home premium edition

US Robotics wireless maxg ADSL gateway

Western Digital 250GB external USB passport drive

Background:

I got my linkstation yesterday, installed it with no problems. I have about 50GB of data on my hard drive, and about 200GB on an external USB drive that I have previously been using as my only backup device.I want to move most of the data from the USB drive onto the linkstation, and use it to backup my hard drive. The memeo software seems to be working fine. Immediately after installation, I cut & pasted about 60GB worth of data (music & movies) from the USB drive, plugged into the pc, to the linkstation via the wireless network connection. No problems. Took about 8.5 hours, left it to run overnight and set the linkstation to auto mode so it would shutdown when the pc was shut off, which I did at about 4.30am.

The problem:

This morning switched everything on again and tried to copy a handful more movie files from the USB drive to the linkstation:

1. When I try plugging in the external USB hard drive to the USB slot on the linkstation, it recognises the drive and I can access the drive, but 'direct copy' feature does not work, and I can not copy and paste any files accross from the USB drive to the linkstation. I get the error message: error 0x 800 700 79 the semaphore timeout period has expired.

2. I tried attaching the USB hard drive to the PC and copying and pasting files to the Linkstation via my wireless connection (which worked fine last night), but after a few minutes, I get the message "problem accessing the H: drive (my USB drive, which is directly connected to the pc!).

3. I tried copying files from my PC internal hard drive to the link station via the router, but I get the message "windows cannot access \\LS-CHL2E4\share, check the spelling of the name, otherwise there might be a problem with your network." Sure enough, the wireless network had dropped out, but it restored itself immediately that I gave up trying to copy a file to the linkstation.

4. I also tried attaching the linkstation directly to the pc using the ethernet cable, but the linkstation did not show up in the network and I couldnt find a way to access it from the pc.

In general, although I can access the linkstation folders via the network, whenever I try to copy a file to them via the wireless network, my connection drops out.

So just to summarize, I can't add files to the linkstation either from my internal hard drive or external USB drive, whether I try to do so via the wireless network or a direct USB/ethernet connection. I don't know what I'm missing, but this hardly seems user friendly.

Would appreciate any help.
