Backup will not start TS-XEL

So I got a backup failure error. I have tried to create a new backup but it will not start. I have a 2TB ext USB connect to the Buffalo, I have formatted using XFS, cleared all the Scheduled back-ups, restarted the NAS, then created an immediate complete backup. It did not start. In the schedule it says running but nothing happened. I restarted the Buffalo and still nothing. I'm not sure what else to do.
Any Ideas?
