Updating firmware 1.07 on LS-CH1.0TL with lsupdater will format existing data ?

Recently I've got error when booting, red LED flashes 6 times repeatedly. After that I can not access NAS in any way, ping, NASnavigator and Web. I decided to upgrade the latest firmware downloaded from your web, but lsupdater can't detect NAS.

 

I used TFTP to update boot image, NAS can be detected from NASnavigator, but can't access data inside because no firmware is detected. Next step I tried to update firmware with lsupdater. It can detect NAS but there is warning message that all data will be destroyed and format, which I really need to recover existing 700GB of data inside. How can I update firmware without format the disk, please advise.

The TFTP only gets the unit into EM mode so you did well by trying to install the firmware.  I am not sure what message you are talking about, can you give me the exact message?  A firmware update alone shouldn't delete any data unless you forced a firmware update and checked "rebuild partition table".

 

If it is telling you that the drive has become unformatted then files are corrupted and you will have to format the drive or contact data recovery.

The message from lsupdater.exe is shown as following.

 

"Couldn't confirm that a partition exists on the TARGET. Updater will format the TARGET and will update the TARGET.

*** All of data will be lost ***

 

Do you want to format and update the TARGET ?"

 

Then I quit installation process because I need to keep exising data in NAS. Could you please advise.

Sounds like data corruption to me.  Contact data recovery or format the drive if you have backup.
