i just purchased a buffalo 320gb ministation lite, model hd-pe320u2 yesterday but when i connected it to my computer with windows xp service pack 3 it cant detect the portable drive.

the buffalo logo turns white all the time while the small blue LED blinks just twice.

i've tried connecting it to different computers and to my laptop all using windows xp sp3 but nothing happens it doesn't install.

i also tried downloading the mobilelaunch.exe from this site but when i try to run the program it says " target product cannot be found".

any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Do you have any system you can test on that's running something other than Win XP SP3?

If so, would *significantly* narrow down what to troubleshoot.

Does the unit show up in disk management?  There isn't any compatability issues with XP SP3 as I believe we have one running here.

Product: Buffalo MiniStation Lite Model: HD-PEU2/RD-EU  ver.02 [2-02}

Windows XP Professional SP3 Dell Inspiron 4150

I have exactly the same problem. As suggested on the knowledge base FAQ's I downloaded the firmware from Buffalo UK (My area I believe). Download went fine but the Mobilelaunch Exe does not launch. Have tried KB 000113 to the best of my ability. Got some recognition i.e.. Device displayed as a removable storage device. Checked properties which displayed the HD as full. ( with zero bytes). The SecureLockMobile Software runs ok but cannot find device. I am reluctant to return it hoping that there is a simple solution. Any help is good.

Thanks

Hi all,

I have just picked up my second pe320u.

The first one worked on XP (SP3) for a week then would randomly not appear in Explorer. Once I was able to transfer work files from a colleagues computer, but found half of them corrupted when it finally showed on my PC. It initially ran on my Mac with 10.4.11, but after a week or so would only occasionally show in Finder (or /Volumes).

The new one clicks every two seconds accompanied by a blink of the blue light on XP and just click every second on the Mac.

I will return it for a refund tomorrow. This will be the end of my association with Buffalo.

Thanks Dadda John,

Yes I did think of doing just that. But persisted. Eventually noticed that my HD is formatted NTFS with no Fat16 or FAT32. Managed to get the downloaded software to execute once the mini sation was detected. I did want  to reformat the mini station HD to NTFS but that option is not available so I reformatted to FATS32. I have done a backup but as yet have not checked it. If what you say is correct I too will be heading to the store. After all a plug and play device should be just that Plug and Play.

I have all the software downloaded but now I am being told that the Memeo  Autosync Software is on trial. Maybe this is true if so its the end of the show and back to the store I go. Have to admit I am disappointed.

Best regards to all.

Brian
