As my Linkstation Mini 1TB is full of data i would like to use the Time Machine feature to back up to my external Freecom 400gig USB drive connected to the link station mini via the available USB port.

When i try to set this up under the Time Machine tab (on the web configuration page), my connected USB disk is not listed (i have looked under shared folders tab and its there). Why isn't it listed?

I am running firmware 1.06 and reset the unit to factory default, but the USB disk is still not listed as a target folder.

2.6 Ghz 4 gig Ram MBP Mac OSX  10.5.7.

You need to format the external usb drive inside your ls mini to xfs for the device to recognize the usb drive properly.

Its already formatted in XFS. I will try to reformat this drive again....

OK reformatted Ext disk in XFS, still no USB Disk target folder option available under Time Machine tab in Linkstation Mini webconfig.

I have followed the steps to the book on:

Is there anything else i can try?
