Hi,

Got 6 red flashing lights of drive death. Can't see the device in NAS navigator, can't get the updater to see it either. Can't check the firmware on it, as I can't get any form of access.

It's not responding to the static address it had, nor can it been seen on the 192.168.11.150 default address.

I'm accessing this on a Mac network, so the engineering mode FAQs don't really stack up....

Any suggestions? Bit annoyed, as the Linkstation is only 3 months old!

An E06 error can mean two things.

1. The unit has lost its boot image.

2. There is a bad hard drive.

Now if the unit has lost its boot image there is a few steps you can take to try and recover the unit and get it back up and running.  There is one problem that I have noticed tho and that is you said that you were using a MAC network.  Unfortunately you cannot perform a Firmware update, Force Firmware, or a TFTP Boot which you will have to do in order to try and get the boot image back.  Do you have access to a PC?   If so go to the 1-3 FAQs on this thread, or you can give our support line a call.

Gut feeling is that it's the boot image.

Can I flash it via a virtual machine running XP ok?

Hi,

Right - have tried restoring this via a windows machine. It doesn't seem to boot into EM mode. I've followed the instructions (powering device off, holding function button down and then powering up, until func light flashs and then release and then hold again for 10 secs. Function light stays flashing blue, the box tries to boot and the indicator at the top flashes 1 red, or goes solid blue). But doesn't seem toget recognised by NAS navigator or thebe detected by the firmware updater.

Have run the tftp boot, parsed packages over to the box and it tries to reboot, but still won't enter into EM mode.  Can't get the firmware updater to see it.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mez

Finally got it into EM mode and updated the firmware. Unfortunately, during this update, it seems there is no data/partition table on the drive. It's now showing a reinitialised empty NAS.
