My brand new LinkStation Mini has the orangle LED blinking 6 (or maybe 7) times when I turn it on and set it up. However, I am able to set it up with the desktop software, access it on the network, and put data onto it.

I called Tech Support and they want me to send it in for replacement. I am not sure if I should, because everything works fine except for the LED that keeps blinking.

Any thoughts?

6 blinks is a HDD error or that it cannot load the kernal.  The only real option is the TFTP procedure.

7 blinks is a motherboard problem and there is nothing that can be done about this besides replacing the unit.

Does this mean you can access your data and the web interface?  I would be very suprised if you could.

Yes, I can access data and perform every task through the Web Admin interface, but the LED keeps blinking!

That is odd, I would pull off the data just in case (unless you have it backed up, which you should).  Then I would try rebooting/resetting the device and see if you still get that error message and if the data is still available.

Fortunately, this is a brand new box so no data yet. However, resetting/rebooting the device doesn't fix the LED thing. I sent it out to Amazon earlier today for a refund. I think I am going to end up buying an Iomega Home Media network drive (1Tb).

Thanks for the help!
