Drivestation FlexNet NAS userid and password

   I have a 1TB DriveStation FlexNet that I am using as a NAS on an Apple MAC network.  When I try to connect to the unit I am requested for a userid and password.  What are the userid and password?

Which format do you have the unit in?  If you have it in NTFS you will lose your NAS capabilites thats why its asking for a username and password.  Can you get to the user interface of the unit?

   I don't know the format.  I just bought it and tried to access it.  I hate to sound dense, but how do I get to the user interface?  I assume that I can use the USB port and reformat it.  If so, what format should it be in for NAS?

The unit needs to be in Fat 32 in order to function as a NAS device.  It will only prompt for the username and password if it is formatted to anything but Fat 32.

   Thanks!  I will use the USB connection to reformat it to Fat 32. How do I access the user interface?

After it is formatted to fat32 you just need to find out the drivestations IP.  You can find this with the drivenavi that came on the CD.  You can then just type in the IP in a web browser to access the web interface.

Thanks for the advice. Just spent 2 hours with my new 500GB Drive Station guessing passwords and messing about with the secuity settings. Finally fixed it by opening the settings pages in my browser, going onto the Disc Management section and then clicking on the 'Start Format' button under the disk format heading. Did all of this through the LAN connection (via a router) and did not need the USB cable at all.
