LinkStation Pro - poor write performance

I recently pruchased a LS-XH1.0TL 1TB, LinkStation Pro.  I am a bit puzzled by the performance.

 

I have it connected to a 1Gb switch and if I download/read a file (2GB) down from it, I get around 45Mbs, which is just blazing fast.  About twice of what my older LinkStation, LS-GL320.

But the upload/write speed is about 5Mbs. That is about 1/2 the speed of my LS.  And when I watch the traffic is starting and stopping, while download/read is a nice steady rate.

I am on the latest FW 1.10

I have also played with the frame size but did not see a noticable difference.

Did I get a bad unit and need to RMA?

Have you tried Initializing the unit (Web interface> Maintenance> Initialization> Restore to Defaults)?

 

You should also try to http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=9309" target=_blank>Force Update FW, if you do this you will want to Init it using steps above after updating!

I had already tried restoring to defaults, but did again for good measure.

Although I am running the most current FW, I flashed again but still seems the same.

I am running VISTA, but disabled my FW and AV. I will try from another PC and see if my results are the same.

Are these multiple files or a few files totalling to 2 GB?

   This is one big file rather than a bunch of smaller ones.  Although it does act like a bunch of smaller ones.  When you watch the network activity you will see a lot of starting and stopping.
