Hi

i woulkd like your help on fixing my nas navigator, the device has stoped working since i moved to greece, i installed exactly the same setup as i had in the UK with the same components, the only thing i did wrong is use a different power cable to power the nas and it didnt work, but then i found the real cable and for some reason i can not access the shares.

I did a bit of research and it looks like its in EM mode as it shows no firmware version, i tried reseting that did not help, it is strange because on my routers config page it doesnt show anything apart from the laptop connected where as on the screen of the router it shows there is a connection, which the laptop does pick up please see screen below. But when i click on view shares it jus freezes and does not show anything else.

I tried the firmware updater HS-DHGL_211_101b, which i followed the instructions from your site, it picks the device up but when i go to update it, it says that Couldn't confirm a response from HS-DHGL-EMF3C, please check a network address of both PC and HS-...... Please disable the Firewall function if it is working on PC. Updating is aborted

I've tried to connect the device directly to the laptop and set the ip address manually that doesnt seem to work, when i run the LSUpdater it says there is no device connected where as Windows shows a Limited Connection.

Please it is really important i re-trieve the data from the NAS as all my lilttle babys pictures are on there and other data which i can not do with out.

at the minute i have no internet access at home but i can check your responses from my mobile.

If anyone can shed some light into this matter i would appreciate it.

When its connected directly reset the unit via the reset button at the back, open the Nas Navigator and let me know the IP that it shows. Bare in mind there is no dhcp server so it might revert to a ghost IP (169.254.x.x) What firewall do you have installed?
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebsireland.com and we will get it fixed!

Hey,

ive finally fixed it, i connected the router to the nas and from the router conected the laptop then run the program to update it, the problem stood on my wireless connection, because i was connecting the nas to my ethernet port, and connection to my home network wirelessly and i think the nas cudnt find what ip the comp had, its all sorted now and thank god for that.

thanks for the help though.

I also hae a LS-W1 that has gone into EM mode after a power failure. I've recovered it before by installing the firmware version 1.1 but now that won't take. It keeps flashing 2 long and 5 short flashes which the manual says is a ROM problem.   I've also tried at Buffalo's recommendation the TFTP boot procedure. Got this to download and connect once but not a second time.  Even after doing that flash the firmware won't take.  The LS comes up in EM mode flashing 2 long and 5 short no matter what.  Any ideas?
