LS-WXSL: Question on large files transfer performance

Hi all,

My set-up is as follows:

- LinkStation Mini WS-WXSL with latest Firmware
- Windows 10 laptop with latest updates
- LinkStation is connected through Gigabit Hub to my wireless modem
- W10 Laptop is connected to my Wifi network
- On Windows, I have mounted a shared directory from my NAS for file transfer

My problem is as follows:

When I start copying (using Total Commander file manager) a large file (say +2 Gb in size) from my W10 laptop to LinkStation, the first ~1 Gb transfers pretty fast (say 35-50 Mb/s), after that first Gb has been transferred, the file transfer speed drops significantly to say 5-8 Mb/s.

The question:

Is this transfer speed (after the ~1st Gb) something that I could improve by adjusting some LinkStation settings or is this something on my Windows side or my WiFi modem?

Just to add, there are no errors and the files transfer correctly. That could just be snappier...?

Appreciated,
Timo

Windows caches the first 1GB
What is your Wifi speed

example writing to LS520D

Hi!

My avg. Wifi speeds (with speedtest.net) are:

Download: 35-45 Mbps
Upload: 10 Mbps

Is there a way to transfer those files through wifi "locally"?

Anything I can do after that  ~1 Gb transfer speeds?

1 Mbps = 0,1 MB/s

Download: 35-45 Mbps -> 3,4 - 4,5 MB/s
Upload: 10 Mbps          -> 1 MB/s

do not use this old Wifi

use Gigabit LAN or 802.11ac

Thx.

I wonder does my Wi-Fi modem support 802.11 ac (Huawei B525)?

Because, checking my W10 Wifi properties, I see following info:
Protocol: 802.11n
Intel Cerino Advanced-N 6235 driver version 15.18.0.1

Actually, my laptop's (Lenovo T431s) Wi-Fi adapter ^^^ does not support 802.11 ac. So "case closed" atm, thx for your informative guidance!
