Buffalo Team,

I've found that Office 2007 files are modified somehow by Web Access when downloading, which makes them inaccessible, please see cases below and let me know if there's a fix for this?

As an fyi, I've replicated the issue on a Terastation Duo (firmware 1.04) a Terastation III (firmware 1.04) and a Linkstation Pro Duo (firmware 3.09).  I've not tried on others but figured this would be a fairly good sample...All 3 boxes show Web Access as being version 2.2.

Case 1: Create or download a Microsoft Office 2007 word document (.docx).  In this example you can grab one from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=26426203-DE3C-4D74-851E-4E1388A81D5F&displaylang=en#filelist" target="_blank">http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=26426203-DE3C-4D74-851E-4E1388A81D5F&displaylang=en#filelist

So you can download Hyper-V_Configuration_Tool_Guide.docx from the above link.

Open it in word 2007 etc. (or 2003 w/ compat package).  Looks fine.  Now go ahead and upload the file via Web Access gui.

Upload completes fine and the file and it's extension appear ok in the GUI.

Now download from the Web Access GUI by using the 'Open' option.  Notice the file extension in the download/open dialog box says ".zip" (

Hyper-V_Configuration_Tool_Guide.ZIP).  So download it and sure enough, it does indeed download it as a ZIP file (it changed the file extension on it's own).

To validate it's not a web browser bug, you can download .docx files direct from microsoft at the link provided, and they come through just fine (as .docx).  Only Buffalo Web Access seems to change them.

Case 2: Instead of uploadnig the .docx file via the Web GUI, copy it directly to the share via a mapped network drive.  Now try to open it using Web Access GUI, and yet again, it will convert Hyper-V_Configuration_Tool_Guide.docx to Hyper-V_Configuration_Tool_Guide.ZIP.

Now a working case:  Upload a .docx to a share, either using Web Access Upload or simply copy to a mapped share drive (doesn't matter).

Now try to open the file from the mapped share (Not Web Access).  Guess what, it works fine.  So it seems Web Access when allowing you to download is somehow changing the file extension.

Again, I can duplicate these with files I've created, or with ones I've downloaded from other sources (such as the Hyper_V document from Microsoft).

Can you validate this in-house and let me know if there's a fix I can apply to get this resolved?  We've got > 3000 Office2k7 files of which a few hundred are accessed remote each day.  Should take ~ 5 minutes to attempt to reproduce.

Edit: Just to add, Office 2003 formats (.doc and .xls) do NOT have this problem.

Thanks!
