LS-WVL550 Forgot Admin Password

I changed my admin password over a year ago and have tried the reset steps with no luck.  Is there anyway to reset or recover the password to access the device?

Firmware 1.71.

I also cannot successfully reset my LS-WVL to the factory admin password.
None of the half dozen similar procedures I've found have worked. I want to

1) Update the firmware
2) Find out what the cause of the Error Light is.
3) Turn OFF the trashbox.

Calling BUFFALO gets me nowhere since the unit is so old, they won't/don't help at all.

you need the LSrecovery file, can you access the data on the unit?
