Can I do this through the web access to the NAS on a TS3400?  I'm confused about the Format type since it does not list NTFS.  FAT32 limits me to 32Gb and the EXT3 and XFS sound like Linux to me :(

This is on a 2012R2 Windows server.

And another thing, on a USB drive connected to the NAS, why can't I delete files from it?  I can add files, copy files, but when I try to delete a file I get some message saying I need permission from Unix user\root !!

Thanks,

Texturtle

If the drive is physically attached to the TeraStation then you can't format it NTFS. The TeraStation does not run Windows, it runs on a Linux kernel. If you want to format the drive with NTFS then it will need to be attached to the Windows Server.

If you want to use it as an addition to the TeraStation then it will need to be formatted either XFS or EXT3. The formatting will need to be done through the TeraStation GUI.

If the drive is already formatted NTFS and you attach it to the TeraStation you will be limited in what you can do with it because the TeraStation is not a Windows system.
