Backup options for the LS520D

I have been using a LS-WTGL/R1-V3 backed up to usb disk for many years and have been very happy with it.
I was starting to run out of space and purchased an ls520d.

1. Why does the newer model not give any options for 'Backup Operation Mode'
     It only performs full backup, even with a regular schedule. Please give this option setup in a new firmware update
2. It cannot backup to other NAS devices. This was an option on my older model.
     Can this be brought back.

The web interface is a 'nicer' design, however, the restricted functionality leaves me to regard it as an inferior product.

Please please please bring back this functionality.
