RAID is not a replacement for a backup! Here's why.

For several months we have been successfully running a Backup from Share(s) on one Terastation (T3400D) to a Backup Share on another.

Recently this Backup has been failing.  The Log gives:

"May 28 09:45:14 NAS-1 errormon[2521]: Information situation detected! I54 Backup Job 1Failed."

I have tried to find a reference to errormon[2521] but cannot.  What does that mean?

Cheers.

p.s. a small aside, is it ok to delete Logs (or Move/Rename/Whatever), and the system will automatically create new again?

If your backup is configured to run a log, it's a text file that gets put in the source folder. That should be more specific.

Most common reason is running out of space on the target.
**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**
