Hi

I've recently bought a LS 520, however when trying to transfer data across via my wifi network the speeds are painfully slow. Below is a comparison of speeds for wired vs wifi transfer:

Wifi speeds for data transder

WRITING: 0.6906480 Mbps

READING: 6.2196480 Mbps

I've tried this via SMB and AFP

Here are the transfer speeds for the laptop to the NAS directly connected by ethernet

WRITING: 62.689 Mbps

READING: 796.3651920

I have a Sky Home Hub 2013 Router (144Mbps and 2.4GHz)

My broadband speed varies form 2-9 megabytes per second

I'm using a 2011 macbook pro

I cant workout if this is a setting issue or a problem with the network itself. I.e do I need a faster broadband connection?

I havent  much idea of setting up a network so from the outset I just followed the manual supplied with the device.

The speeds do seem incredibly slow though.

Wifi speeds are dictated by the network (Your sky router and even the wifi adaptor in the MAC), not the Linkstation.

So i'm assuming that an upgrade in router and broadband speed will be the solution? There isnt anything else in the set up of the network or network NAS interaction that could be slowing things down?

Faster broadband speed will not make a different at all. A Fast router might but all your devices need to be using the latest technology, your issue here is probably that you have 1 older device using 802.11g which brings the entire wireless network down to that speed (54mb/s, real world transfers of 1-2Mb/s)
