Hello, we have a TS5400D with x4 2TB. I had to replace a failed disk with an off the shelf 2TB of the same model.

I have set the new disk as a hot spare but it is not rebuilding.

Please see the enclosed screenshots.

Thanks,

jimbelushi

I contacted Buffalo Support and then provided instructions on how to solve.

Thank you for contacting the Buffalo Helpdesk.
If you set the hdd as a hot spare, it'll be used only when another hdd will fail.
If you want your RAID 5 working with 4 hdd, you have to go, on web interface, Drives category and in Drives section then:
1. Dismount the new (hot spare) disk
2. Rediscover it
3. Format it
4. Dismount it
4. Rediscover it again

Once that has completed, please go to Drives >Raid
1. Click on your Array
2. Select the new hdd
3. Rebuild the Array
