LS-WXL4.0/R1 Would Not Power Down

I have a LS-WXL4.0/R1 and last night it would not power down.  I put the switch in the off position and wait, but the power light remained blue.  I waited at least 15 or 20 minutes.  I even disconnected it from the network cable in case activity was preventing it from shutting down.

I don't need to do this often, but last night the NAS was not responding to any of the computers on the network.  Finally, I pulled the power cable (I know I am not supposed to do this...).  When I plugged it back in, the power LED remained off (switch was in OFF position).  I switched it to AUTO and it powered up and now it is working fine.

I have since moved the power switch back to OFF  and the POWER LED flashed for a bit and then went off.  So, it seems OK now.

Is there another way I could have reset the NAS when it was in this funky, non-responsive state?

Thanks,

J
