LS-XLA8C intermittently beeping

I'm a bit of a nubie here.  I'm a programmer by trade, so I'm pretty familiar with technology things. I've had my LS-XLA8C for a couple years with no issues at all, and I don't think this is a problem, but I've never heard it just intermittently beep like this before. I've heard it do this twice in the last hour.

So I pulled up the 'Navigator' software and it gives this message:
information:
I52: A new firmware version has been released. Update the firmware. (2015/03/19 23:59:32)

Would it beep intermittently for this?  Seems a bit odd, but I would think some beep like this would be for an error, not an informational thing.
