EDIT:

- I had no status update ftom the link station for more than 24 hours after the check disk
- I unplugged and replugged the device
- After this NAS navigator2 reports the device as "Emergency mode"
- I tried (after reading online) to reflash the firmware but I get the below message

Partition not detected.
The TARGET will be formatted and all data lost.

Continue updating?.

What are my options?

I don't have backup of the contents which are in the hard disk.
Would I be able to recover my hard disk with all data?

================================================

I've been using LS-XL42C 3TB for more than a year now.

whenever i try to open http://LS-XL42C/ the login screen never comes and i only seen an image circling

I upgraded the firmware from 1.64 to 1.69 yesterday and after that more problems started

The upgrade went well, but after that when ever I fire up the NAS navigator, It detects (Sometimes) the Linkstation but with an exclamation mark,
I get the message that there are "too many bad sectors"

Also I see a notification that "Communication error with LS-XL42C"

After the firmware upgrade, the NAS is not really discover-able via NAS Navigator although ping works

What can I do now? Will be able to reflash the firmware?

I don't have backup of the contents which are in Linkstation.

Will it work if I connect the LS-XL42C network to my laptop? I havent tried though

For what it's worth, the BLUE LED light is always ON and not blinking.

now the blue light is blinking and I am unable to see the device in NAS avoigator :-(

anyone help please?

After disconnecting and reconnecting the power for many times, I was able to put my linkstation to EM mode. Then used the Firmware update to update the firmware

It was successful and after reboot, I am unable to connect the linkstation. NAS navigator2 fails to identify, although ping to the linkstation works.

any ideas how i could bring the device back to life?

I don;t have backup of files in that and I really need to salvage them :-(

So your partition or something is corrupted. You will have to get the drive out, and use linux to recover your files. Have another drive like a USB drive or something so you can xfer them. Drive could be bad and if so it will make this harder. If it is bad, you power cycling it off and on will just make things worse.
