Ive been using the excellent, slick operating Linkstation LS-CHL for several years and have just purchased LS210 to add to the network.

On opening the box it seems that someone at Buffalo thought that removing the automatic power option was a good idea!?!

Does the LS210 really need powering up and down separately to access files?

Or am I missing something?

Thanks for looking.

Hi SamK,

I ordered a LS210, too and I'm wondering about the same thing.

As you do not have any answer on your question, I think Buffalo does not have an answer.

I feel like been pulled back to the last century.

Most likely its more cost effective to use software vs a off an on button. Also having  to turn off and on a Nas to just access a few files when you need to demeans the whole purpose of a Nas. Might as well get a portable HDD. You also powering them down and up all the time causes more damage to them then you leaving them running. Here are the sleep options.
