Hi all,
since a few months I'm having issues with the torrent client.
I'm using many trackers, but from some of them I can't download, and others are working without any issues.
Since I can't see/access any error logs, the only assumption is that there's a version/build incompatibility, to be more exact the User-agent uTorrent/3200(28581)(server) could be outdated, banned on some trackers.
Is there a way to fix this? to trick the tracker?
Thanks in advance.

AFAIK I have the latest version: 1.31-0.92

Well, today Buffalo released a new firmware for this unit. Unfortunately no bittorrent update, actually the changelog has only one bugfix:
Quote- Modified to deal with vulnerabilities of Bash programming which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands (CVE-2014-6271 and CVE- 2014-7169).

This is getting annoying. Thumbs down Buffalotech.

They can fix something unless you call them and let them know though I did a lot of research and didn't see anyone with this issue except you. You can try doing a factory restore which just resets the settings. This doesn't delete the data. See if that helps. I dont own this unit so i cant experiment. If anything call the support and if Tier 1 cant help get Tier 2.

I've reported this to support a few months back. Te reply was "There is no updates for Bit Torrent client is foreseen in any nearest future."
It is 100% client related. The Bittorrent user agent is uTorrent/3200(28581). Actual uTorrent version is 3.4.2 build 34727. I don't want to have the latest version, but 3.2 is almost 2 years old.

I wish it would be possible to install Transmission on this device.

Regarding the factory reset, I'm afraid to perform it. I have lots of important things on my NAS, and can't afford to loose them.

Texturtle

If you have important data stored on ANY network device, it should be backed up. Storage devices can and do fail. Any data that is stored in a single location is inherently unsafe.

loplo

Texturtle you're 100% right, nothing is safe ;) but this won't solve my issue.
I'll perform a factory reset soon, but until then I'm waiting for a reply from support.

You really cant say it wont solve your issue til you try it. I did more looking but like i said before your unit seems to be the only one so far. Not saying anything bad its just i have no second input or logs to see. I wouldn't even know where to get logs for the torrent client.

Ill see if i can find a used one with no disk or something and try to recreate your issue. Only then can i have a possible fix. heck ill even hack the unit if i need to so i can fix it. Just getting a unit.. hmm...

If you get one, just let me know and I'll give you a torrent file, from one of the private trackers I'm using and it's giving me problems.

Send me it in a message. I have other Units. I want to see if they will have your issue.
