Can't access linkstation via FTP on new Airstation router

Need some help guys.

Ive been using FTP to access a LinkStation LS-WXLED9 using a old BT router. (been working for years)
But now have change the router to a Airstation ADSL router (WBMR-HP-G300H Ver.1.79)

My old settings that worked on old router
My ADSL internet (WAN) IP is static (for example purposes in this post ill refer it to say 9.9.9.9)
The BT router (also gateway) is on static LAN IP 192.168.1.254
Linkstation is on static LAN IP 192.168.1.111
All PCs etc are 192.168.1.101-110 etc

these settings allowed me to connect to the linkstation via ftp in a explorer window.
the address that works is for example ftp://9.9.9.9/array1/Files/

New Airstation router
Using same IP settings

New Airstation Router IP = 192.168.1.254
Linkstation IP = 192.168.1.111

in the airstation setting ive added the following to try and get this to work:

IP Filter Information
Enabled
LAN->Internet
192.168.1.111  ALL
FTP (TCP Port:20-21)

Enabled
Internet->LAN
ALL 192.168.1.111
FTP (TCP Port:20-21)   

Port Forwarding
AirStation's Internet IP Address 9.9.9.9 - FTP (TCP Port: 20-21)
LAN side 192.168.1.111 - FTP (TCP Port: 20-21)

But i can't get access to the NAS via FTP. what am i doing wrong???
all other setting are as default on the airstation
