Hello,

I installed a new linkstation a few weeks ago. Model LS-Q4.0TL/R5

When first installed, I noticed some vibration noise.  I removed the front cover and found that the noise stopped when I lightly touched all four drives.  it seems that the drive carriers are not 'tight' in their slots, and are easily moved up and down (not far, maybe 1mm or so).  The noise stopped at that point, but it seems to come back.  Could this linkstation be missing something?  is there a recommendation of how to resolve the vibration noise?  I'm thinking that a few small pieces of fuzzy side velcro on the drive carriers might give a better fit.  I'd like to hear Buffalo's recommendation as I do not want to risk loss of warranty.

Regards,

Tim

Maybe one of the drives is a little lose. I had it on drive 2. I touched one after another and on two the vibration stopped. I removed it, plugged it in properly and it works till now. The bad thing is the unit detects it and does a RAID check what slows the unit down for a couple of hours. It could even happen that you have to rebuild the Raid. When you do it you could have a look inside at the SATA plug inside and check whether it is damaged or not.
