LS-QVL EM Recovery

I have a LS-QVL/R5 in EM mode.

How do I recover the 3 HDDs originally installed?
Do I need to update the FW?  If so, how? (LSUpdate won't play ball with EM)

What error do you get when reinstalling the firmware?

When using LSUpdate, it won't perform FW update at all, because LS is in EM.
Error: Cannot update FW when LS is in EM
