Should I replace the ethernet cable?

Does anyone know the transfer speed rating of the ethernet cable supplied with the LinkStation? I have a spare CAT-6 cable lying around. Should I use the CAT-6 cable instead of the ribbon type cable provided by Buffalo? I heard that shielding makes a difference in how fast the data transfer can go. But the ribbon cable does not seem to have any shielding. I have a LinkStation 420 and it is supposed to support up to 80MB/s.

I wanted a shorter cable, so I used a Cat-5e cable I had purchased at Micro Center.

You could try a test transfer with each cable and see if there's any difference. I don't think there will be, but testing is always good.
