New media files added not always showing on media server.

I've got a LG smart TV, which was seeing everything okay, but if I added a new mkv file for instance, sometimes it would see it and others it wouldn't.
If I deleted the mkv file and put it on drive again then the LG TV would see it, even then it was hit and miss.
Sometimes if I restart media server the new files show and sometimes they don't.
