Allowing anonymous users

Hi all,
Newbie question that I'm sure has been asked before. I've looked in the forums and didn't find anything to answer my question. I've set up Web access from home and the only way it works is if I allow anonymous users. Does this make my system vulnerable to being hacked? Thanks in advance!
