Hi!

I had a firmware update installation going to my LinkStation device, and suddenly we had a power cut.
Now the device is in some sort of startup loop, it starts and begins to load but after 20s it suddenly shuts down and automatically after few seconds tries again.
I have tried to reset to factory defaults by holding Function while starting and then again pressing it, but nothing happends.
This device has been unoperational for over a year now, and now I either want it to start working or throw it away.
Device:  LS-WX4.0TL/R1

You corrupted the unit, remove both the HDDs, reboot it and see if you get E07.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Yes, it blinks red light 7 times.

Tried to do the same function-button resetting as before, nothing happends.

Trying to up this, if davo or anybody else knows a solution for the problem.

Do you have a backup? Should be able to recover the unit but the data would be erased.

Yes, I have managed to rescue my files from the drives.

How do I proceed with the resetting of my Linkstation?

Edit: I have also tried the TFTP-method, but the Linkstation won't stay on long enough to make any requests. The boot cycle isn't long enough.

Can davo, or anybody else help on this one?

Sadly, this situation might require a bit of leg work on your part...

If you have already backed up the data off the drives to a DIFFERENT drive, you could possibly do the TFTP procedure to get the unit online from a factory default state.

Easy steps: google "diskpart clean", follow the guide from sevenforums (READ AND FOLLOW WITH CARE!), then go to the FAQ 3 of 5 for the TFTP boot procedure (this unit is NOT in the first link, go to the last few pages, I linked the TFTP file for it there), then run the firmware updater as at that point, after the TFTP the unit should be in EM Mode, so simply repartition the unit!

OF course, if there is DISK damage from the power outage, that disk would need to be replaced, but from a pure situation standpoint, it can be recovered!
