When a USB drive is plugged into the LinkStation, the drive appears as a volume but the file system is not visible.

Question: is there a procedure to resolve this problem?
Related question: once this problem is fixed, does the Direct Copy feature support OS X

Background

If USB drive is formatted NTFS, LS indicates the storage capacity.
If formatted Mac OSX extented (journaled) , LS indicates zero storage. In both cases, no folders or files are seen.

The USB HDD needs to be formatted to XFS or FAT 32.
