Hi all,

Just got a Linkstation LS-QVL quad with no disks. It has firmware 1.65.
Popped in a pair of Seagate 2tb (ST2000DL003-9VT166) disks. They were detected ok and mounted as 2 separate disks. I now try to create a Raid array.

Problem 1: Raid1 is the only option. I wanted to start with Raid0. Is it possible? Why wouldn't it show up?

OK so I change my plan and create a Raid1 array which seems to be working. I start copying data to the device .A copy of my existing backup, around 1.5tb of medium and large files, via rsync from my outgoing fileserver pc. It seems to be working fine so I leave it for a day. When I come back I find the device is blinking orange. 1 long, 7 short, which I gather from the manual means it's re-syncing the array. I leave it for a few more days. It's still re-syncing the array. I notice now that the web interface doesn't work. It shows the busy logo which it always shows just before the login box. Is that normal? (Also shares and rsyncing to the box don't work)

I estimate that more than half my data has copied. It has already spent much more time apparently re-syncing than it would have done to start again and copy all the data.

How long should resyncing Raid1 with 2x2tb disks take?
Should the web interface be accessible during this time?

Thanks for any help.

After building the raid array the unit will do a resync, this can take some time. i say about 36 hours if you leave it alone. I honesly can say that it is never the same amount of time. i have done rebuilds plently of times and some times its 24hrs, other times its a whole week.. not sure why but i usually leave them alone when doing resync's so they can move as fast as possible. If you want you can restart the LinkStation and the only thing that would happen is the resync will restart all over. You can see the percentage by logging to the linkstation and going to [System]-->[Storage] and then you will see the Raid Array section. There is a scroll bar that will allow you to scroll all the way right in the Raid Array section box. You will see a percentage and time remaining. If you Nas Navigator has a Resync button, i would update that software as this feature was decide to not be used and a bug in the software ended showing this option. it does not work so dont use it.

If you do a raid scan the interface might not be accessible. but if you create a raid array then you should be able to access the web interface.
Units I own: TS-XL, TS-WXL, LS-WVL, TS-RXL,  TS5400, TS-RVHL,
