Hello, I have a LS-WVL (LinkStation Pro Duo) disk-less, and plan to set it up with 1 3TB disk. Later (weeks or a month) I will add a 2nd 3TB hd to make a 6TB storage (no mirroring). At that point, do I need to bk the disk and reformat everything, or can it be added "smoothly"?

Thanks!

If you are going to raid the 2 hard drives in to a Raid 0 then yes you need to back up your data before you proceed with creating the raid 0 with the drives. if you are just going to add the drive and use them separate then you don't need to format the 1st drive. just the second drive so the linkstation can then use the second drive for storage.
Units I own: TS-XL, TS-WXL, LS-WVL, TS-RXL,  TS5400, TS-RVHL,

I don't work for Buffalo but i do love there products enough to help people

Thanks! I thought you only could do Raid 0/1 not just independent drives.

I want to use Raid 0 (one big disk), so I guess I need to get a 1TB to back up my current data.

Thanks!
