Install Windows Server on TS5400D?

When purchased it mentioned that it supported several versions of Windows Server.  http://www.buffalo-technology.com/userfiles/file/product-datasheets/TeraStation_5400_EN.pdf

This is something that would be useful for us now and I wanted to see how we can install it and if Windows Server 2012 R2 may now be supported?  I understand that we'd need to buy the software and additional CALs.  Thanks

These are just supported OS's what will work with the unit. Strictly speaking buffalo would not support installing a different OS on their units however technically it is possible. I have server2008r2 installed on my 5200 terastation.

Thanks for the info, I'm guessing it would just be a case of installing/finding drivers then?  I think they sell a version of the TS5400 with Windows Server 2012 on it.  I'll look into it more but may just got with a separate system and attach the terastation instead.

The original equipment is TS5400D.
