Extremely Slow Speeds on LS-WXL221

I have had the LS-WXL221 2TB NAS for 2 weeks now and regardless of settings, I cannot get write speeds above 20MBps.

I have a full CAT6 Gigabit LAN and regardless of Large Frames enabled, the write speed is the same. Read speeds are lucky to hit 35MBps.

This is the same in RAID0 & RAID1 modes.

I have checked for new firmware (currently 1.65).

Remote Differential is disabled in Windows 7 x64 & the network transfers machine to machine at full speeds (average 85MBps).

From what I have read after purchasing, the Linkstation Duo series are not renowned for their "speed". The NAS I received is fitted with 2 x Western Digital 1TB drives & I am wondering if it is hit or miss to what drives you receive and the speeds you should get.

I bought this to be used as a backup solution for my business and I cannot do so because it takes more time to backup the required files than the business is closed (meaning no work can be done until the backup has finished!!!).

Has anybody found a solution to the slow speeds without having to purchase another NAS & using the Linkstation as a doorstop (at the moment that is all it is fit for!).

After looking through several pages of threads here, it seems that Buffalo don't have any tech support. Shame really as I was about to order 100 of their NAS systems to roll out for a big client of mine in their sites across the UK. Looks like I will go with a company who actually supports their products & makes products that perform to the specifications that they claim.

Looks like I will also be returning the LS-WXL221 I am having issues here with to the supplier as "not fit for advertised purpose" and buy a Netgear NAS instead.

This is what prospective buyers of Buffalo Technology products should expect - NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT AT ALL!

I have had dealings with so-called "Tech Support" yesterday that almost caused me to explode!!!! I ended up with a bricked LS-WXL221 unit and no support at all by following email instructions given by "Miguel". After no reply to my emails notifying "Miguel" of the failure (Previous emails were answered in minutes until his instructions bricked the device), I called and spoke to "Artur" who was about as helpful as a wet dish cloth! Not willing to listen to the customer and kept saying it is dead and needs to be sent back for replacement, but the supplier has to deal with the returns rather than Buffalo.

I spent most of yesterday trying to get the device working as it is advertised and lost out on work that I needed to do for clients, but I have now got a functioning LS-WXL221 again albeit still with diabolically slow data speeds, and NO HELP AT ALL FROM BUFFALO TECHNOLOGY!!!!!

This company is now on my "Never to buy or recommend" list & the piss poor support has cost them a £15,000 sale as I had quoted a client with Buffalo products, which has now been switched to standalone enclosures and separate drives (actually cheaper by £20 a unit!).

If I treated my customers in this manner, I would be bankrupt in a manner of weeks. No wonder the I.T industry has such a poor image with company's like Buffalo trading as they do. Buffalo could learn something from Microsoft in this incident who dealt with a faulty Surface Touch Cover so professionally it was unbelievable, with follow up calls and one person taking ownership of the case from start to finish.
