Hi,
I wanted to use my working LinkStation as a network backup for specific folders, music, documents, pictures, downloads,...
I was not able to find a way to backup files on 2 different Windows PCs on my network via Microsoft's SyncToy 2.1 on my Vista laptop.
I like Synctoy because it allows adding from both systems into seperate folders or combining al into same folder on the destination.
The built in backup feature in 2.10 only seems to backup those folders already copied to the LinkStation.
Am I missing something?

Still noticed that no one has responded to my original problem of why the WD-500 won't work as a replacement in the Linkstation but works fine plugged into the USB port of my working LinkStation.

Doing more.research I found that problem was with synctoy.
The.solution was to.uninstall synctoy and all microsoft sync installs.and to reinstall synctoy. I alzo removed the synctoy dir.fron the/user/me/appdata/local/microsoft dir but im not.susre.if.that.was.necessary. all is.well now.
