Hello all

I've encounted the dreaded 6 red lights on my NAS drive.  After some research i might have to reflash my drive.  I've got as far as using  the TFTP Boot software to 'pick' up the drive.  But before flashing and even before bricking my drive.  Will it delete all of my data on my drive?

If so, what other alternatives do i have?  Get access to the hard drive and copy the contents manually to another drive?

I think the error happend when i left the drive with my uncle and he disconntected the main before powering down?  Does Buffalo drives have a tenancy to do that?  I never would have done or tried that myself but is it that 'weak'?

I'm now having trouble updating the device.  Its telling me there are problems with my firewall.  I've disabled them through windows, stop my antivirus and still no solution.

Right - i've used my laptop to see how much further i got, connected the NAS drive to the laptop directly.  Followed the same procedure and it fails to update.

It gives me an error "Failed to formatting. (ACP_State_Failure) updating is aborted.

Your default gateway doesn't need to be specified and nor does your DNS. When performing a TFTP boot your settings should look more like this:

I've nowchanged and after more research i found out from the eorror i was getting it was because my /boot was full.  I'm in the process trying to clear it.

I need to get my head around using this commandline and java...

You may be able to recover the device by forcing the firmware with all four Config options checked in the Debug menu. The Rebuild Partition Table option will reformat the entire hard drive, so don't do this if you care about the data!
