I have a Linkstation Duo LS-WX2.0TL/R1 (firmware 1.63).
There is one share setup as Read & Write and NO Access Restrictions.
I have been using the Novastor backup program supplied with the LS drive and I am finding that the Archive bit is not being cleared on any files created by OTHER users. Which means my Incremental Backup is just growing and growing.
When I look at the file permissions on the LS from Windows 7 I can see that the owner has Full Control.
The other users (Everyone and Domain Users) only have Read and Write permissions.

Is there a way of setting the top level share so that Everyone has Full Control and this setting then propagates down the folder tree?
Thanks

davo

Permissions can and only should be set via the web admin page, NTFS permission will not work at all. Any permission you set on a share via the admin page will be to also set to any sub folder or file.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

So, is there any way I can use the bundled NovaBackup software to do an incremental backup in a Windows environment??

davo

Of course there is, map the share, run the backup job!

I have tried that!
The NovaBackup software does not clear the archive bit on files not created by me. i.e ANY other user.
Therefore the incremental backup is constantly growing when it should only backup changed files (those files with the archive bit set).
Maybe I'm missing something here.
