Cloudstor Bittorrent Not Downloading Torrents - Stick at Inactive

Hi,

I have bought a 1TB Cloudstor CS-XL and overall it works great.  The only issue I have is that the BitTorrent client does not want to actually download any torrents.

The client is running fine and I can log into it.  If I upload a torrent file it shows in the list of torrents but just sits as inactive and remains at 0%.  If I tell it a torrent URL (with nothing in the cookies box) then the torrent is not shown at all in the list.

I have tried turning the client on/off and also ensuring port forwarding is set up for the relevant torrent ports on my router.  I have tried turning the firewall on the router off.  Nothing makes a difference.  The router is a BT Homehub

Any help would be appreciated.  Just to confirm the firmware is 1.13 build 2.35.

cheers!

Have you tried using a magnetic link rather than just uploading the torrent file?

I notice you are using a BT home hub, have you got the truly unlimited package with BT? The normal unlimited packages with BT do block some of the traffic needed by the cloud station in order for the torrents to work properly. On other Buffalo products this has been sorted out with a firmware update, but as yet the cloudstor has not been updated for a while.

Thanks Ratty,

I have tried using the magnetic link and that does not show up at all in the list.  I have BTInfinity unlimited but am not sure if that is something that has any underlying blocks on the package.  I know BT filter out sites like Piratebay but I can download torrents on my laptop using a standard client with no problem.

Any ideas if the CS will get a F/W update anyway?  Is there anything else that could be causing a problem?  are there any logs that I can get access to that might shine a light on what the problem might be?

cheers

The torrent client used on the cloudstation is a very old version and is not 100% compatible with BT's standards.

Looking by the date of the last firmware released I doubt that any new firmware's will be coming soon.

If you are looking for a NAS device that has torrent capabilities, you might be better off with the Linkstations rather than a Cloudstor. I have a linkstation my self and have no problems with downloading torrents with BT using that.
