In essence if you have 2 LinkStations and you have one in an office and another in an off site location the backup feature does not work.

See the post I made http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/Off-Site-Backup/m-p/21700" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/Off-Site-Backup/m-p/21700

People use rsync to backup files over the internet so maybe an adjustment may be need to the firmware code. We can not control what our ISPs do in the background therefore obtaining a non routed IP is almost impossible.

Rather than using rsync as the backup protocol perhaps you can use SFTP (preferably) or even plain FTP so that we can have our LinkStations at two different locations an be able to backup via the internet.

I would be nice also to specify a domain name for the off subnet linkstation rather than an IP address.
