I have been using this Link Station for quite some time as a network device.  Need to do a restore and since the network is wireless from this station I wanted to improve the restore speed by using it directly connect to the USB.  Seems to be recognized in the sense that it says there is one attached in the device manager but I don't see it in the Computer page so I can browse it.

This is only a NAS device, it does not support USB.

The best way to get faster speed is to plug it directly to your comp and set an IP on your comp to match the subnet (first three sets of numbers in the IP address) of the LS (found with the Nas Navigator).

So you can't connect and view the folders on the linkstation HDD via USB ?

JoshC

No this is a NAS (Network attached storage) device only!

Thats a shame :(

Our television has a USB socket for playing DIVX or HD MKV files from an external drive so was hoping for a NAS unit that can be plugged into next to the TV via Homeplug and then a USB cable to the TV for media playback from the HDD.

Maybe you can get a mediaplayer like the Linktheatre.
