Linkstation LS-L320GL Transfer Speed

I have an LS-L320GL hooked up to my wireless router.  When I move files across (e.g. videos of recorded TV shows), I notice the transfer rate is like 350 Kb/s.  I'm on a wireless network that's 11 Mb/sec, and the Linkstation has a 100 Mbps connection to there.

Can anyone tell me why my transfer rate is so low, and what I should expect?  I'm running Windows XP Home, and firmware 1.04 (never upgraded).  Like each half-hour show (~20 minutes of video, or ~750 MB) takes like 35 minutes to transfer.

Thanks,

Tim

Try plugging your computer into your router and check transfer speed, then try plugging the LS directly to your comp and test the speed.

Could be wireless interference, try changing the channel.

I initially transferred quite a bit (many GB) over the direct connection, and it was faster, but still no where near the speed I expected.  Transfers of like 20 GB would take hours, rather than the minutes I expected.

I saw something about setting the IP address of the drive--how do I do that, and does that help?

Thanks,

Tim

I believe with a Gigabit connection without Jumbo Framing, you can get up to 38MB/s, a transfer that large will take awhile.

Setting a manual IP on the unit shouldn't change the speed of it, but to do that:

Log into the interface> Network Settings> Disable "auto DHCP".
