Cannot connect to WZR-HP-G450H. Advice please?

My newly purchased device seems to put out a strong signal and it accepts the default passkey, and it does assign an IP to this machine, but I cannot reach through to the modem even (I am writing this via a different WiFi router).

 

[*] Using the WiFi connection (only) , or an ethernet cable, I cannot find 192.168.11.1  in my Netscape browser (Win XP sp3) .

 

[*] Using the configuration utility on this PC I cannot set it up because the window always recycles at "wrong password"   (I have tried both "" and "password"). I have used both the CD and a download as a source of the utility, with identical results.

 

[*] I have |reset| the router, and repeated these results.

 

I'm assuming that this is not a sick practical joke ":-)", and that something unintended has happened, somewhere.

 

Can someone please suggest a good course of action?
